Members' Welfare

Tri Lakeland is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of its members and aims to be a welcoming, inclusive club which makes triathlon accessible to all, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or ability.

All of our coaches are qualified under Triathlon England or a corresponding sporting body and our training sessions are open to all abilities.

Code of Conduct

To ensure a safe environment for all club members to train and socialise, and to project a positive image of the club to the general public, all individuals engaged in any activity within the BTF triathlon disciplines will at all times:

​

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person, be they adult or child, treating everyone equally within the context of the sport.

  • Respect the spirit of the sport adhering to the rules and laws on and off the field of play, incorporating the concept of friendship and respect for others.

  • Promote the positive aspects of the sport and never condone the use of inappropriate or abusive language, inappropriate relationships, bullying, harassment, discrimination or physical violence, illegal gambling or conduct that may be construed as unethical.

  • Accept responsibility for their own behaviour and encourage and guide all Home Nation Triathlon Association members and parents of junior members to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and conduct.

  • Ensure all concerns of a child safeguarding nature are referred to an appropriate authority in accordance with “BTF Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy”.

  • Conduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasonable measures to protect their own safety and the safety of others.

  • Promote the reputation of the sport and never behave or encourage or condone others to behave in a manner that is liable to bring the sport, BTF, or club into disrepute.

 

By joining the club you agree to:

​

  • Abide by the British Triathlon rules and the above Code of Conduct

  • Report to the coach leading your session any known medical conditions that may affect your ability to participate in any club activity

  • Avoid any actions that may endanger other club members and to make a coach aware of any actions that might be endangering another club member

  • Follow the directions of the session coach

  • Be courteous at all times to pedestrians and other road and path users

  • Obey the Highway Code and respect the rules of the public highways and footpaths

  • Wear suitable clothing and protection for each of the club training sessions e.g. helmets are compulsory when riding a bike, bright coloured hats when swimming in open water and reflective clothing at night

  • Obey all rules of any event in which you are competing

  • Behave in a sportsman-like way to other competitors, and accept the decisions of race officials and referees.

  • Accept that violation of these rules could result in expulsion from the club.
